Programme Overview

The Asia–UK Cultural Exchange is an international platform connecting young performers, educators and cultural institutions through music, education and shared artistic experiences in the United Kingdom.

Established in Birmingham in 2025, the programme has grown rapidly, welcoming over 200 young performers, educators and institutional representatives in 2026, including delegations from China and Vietnam.

Combining professional artistic development, international performance and cultural exchange, the programme offers workshops, masterclasses and rehearsals at BCU Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, alongside opportunities to perform in professional venues and learn from established artists and educators.

Beyond the concert stage, our Friendship Day and school partnerships bring visiting students together with their British peers through shared activities, collaborative learning and cultural exchange, creating friendships across languages and borders.

Cultural and academic experiences in historic British cities further enrich the journey, connecting artistic learning with Britain's educational traditions, heritage and society.

Supported by relationships with Birmingham City Council, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, leading British schools and cultural organisations, the programme continues to create meaningful experiences and lasting connections between young people and institutions across Asia and the UK.

Looking Ahead to 2027

The Asia–UK Cultural Exchange returns from 1–9 August 2027, building on the success and rapid growth of the programme over its first two years.

The 2027 programme will welcome outstanding young people from across Asia and the UK in three main areas: Symphony & Ensembles, Vocal & Choir, and Performance Arts. Participants will take part in performances, masterclasses, collaborative workshops, school exchange and cultural experiences across Birmingham, London, Cambridge and other UK destinations.

2027 also marks an important new stage in the programme’s development. Through the newly established Asia–UK Schools Alliance, the initiative is extending beyond the annual summer programme to create longer-term connections between schools, educators and young people across the two regions.

These relationships will support future student exchange, teacher and leadership dialogue, collaborative projects and new institutional partnerships — building a network that continues to grow from year to year.

The Asia–UK Cultural Exchange 2027 Programme Brochure is now available, with expressions of interest open for participating schools, ensembles and organisations.
